Joseph R. English

In recognition of outstanding service and leadership in the engineering profession.

The Korean War interrupted Joe’s education at North Carolina State University. After four years in the Air Force as a B-29 gunner, he entered Louisiana Tech in 1955, to receive a BSME in 1958. His first job was Test Engineer at General Dynamics Ordinance Aerophysicist Labs. He returned to Tech and in 1961 received his MSME degree. He moved to the Chrysler Corporation’s Saturn rocket program as a Test Engineer in 1964. In 1967, he decided he did not want to pursue a career in the space program and joined Ford, Bacon and Davis as an Instrument Engineer. Over the years he progressed to even more responsible positions and at retirement in 1991, was President and Director of FB&D, Inc., President and Chairman of the Board of FB&D Louisiana and FB&D Sealants, and Director of FB&D Utah.

Joe is a Registered Professional Engineer in Florida and Louisiana. He was a Board Member of the Northeast Louisiana United Way, the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, and the Northeast Louisiana University Foundation. He is on the Ouachita Valley Boy Scouts Executive Council and a member of the Ouachita Enterprise Corporation. He is a Deacon in the North Monroe Baptist Church.
