COES to present online Senior Projects Conference

Seniors from Louisiana Tech’s College of Engineering and Science will present their capstone projects and research in an online conference this Friday, May 8.

The Senior Projects Conference is the culmination of the College of Engineering and Science (COES) senior capstone experience – a yearlong series of hands-on and independent study courses in which students develop solutions to real-world problems and create innovative products.

Each year, seniors from all 14 majors within the College present their research both individually and in teams to attendees who include industrial partners, faculty and their fellow students. This year, students will present more than 100 projects, ranging from medical solutions to infrastructure revitalization strategies, using Zoom teleconferencing software.

“Our seniors have worked extremely hard this quarter to meet the challenges of accomplishing benchmarks through distance teamwork,” Dr. Hisham Hegab, dean of the COES, said. “The projects that they will present on Friday showcase their dedication and professionalism, and I am proud to invite you to attend the online conference.”

“Many of the projects are sponsored by companies and government entities in the area,” Dr. Heath Tims, associate dean of undergraduate studies for the COES, added. “The problems that our students will address will have a real economic impact on our state. I look forward to seeing their solutions on Friday.”

The conference will begin at 1 p.m. You can find schedules, abstracts, and links to attend the presentations through our online portal.
