The MALT Industrial Research Assessment Center offers free energy assessments to businesses throughout the region. Find out if you’re eligible for the free industrial or commercial assessment.
Free Industrial Assessment
You might qualify for a free industrial assessment if your business:
- Industry is within the Manufacturing SIC codes 20-39, or
- NAICS codes 11, 21, 22, 31-33, and
- Is within 150 miles of Ruston, Grambling, or Lafayette, Louisiana,
- Has an annual energy cost of between $100K-$3.5M,
- Annual sales under $250 million,
- Fewer than 500 employees, and
- No in-house energy professional on staff.

Free Commercial Assessment
You might qualify for a free commercial assessment if your business:
- Has small or medium-sized commercial buildings and
- A building area of less than 100,000 square feet.

What to Expect
The assessment includes:
- An analysis of provided annual energy bills and expenditures,
- A free one-day energy assessment at your facility, which will be conducted by trained Louisiana Tech, Grambling State, or University of Louisiana – Lafayette students and faculty,
- Energy and cost savings recommendations unique to your facility, and
- A report (delivered within 60 days of assessment) with our recommendations and the achievable energy savings, implementation costs, and payback periods for each recommendation.
