Centria Brown is the Adjunct horn professor at Louisiana Tech University. She currently resides in Baton Rouge, LA where she is completing her DMA at Louisiana State University in horn performance under Mr. Seth Orgel. While a student at Louisiana State University Centria began to study the Alexander Technique under Dr. Patricia O’Neill. Centria’s research is on how the Alexander Technique can benefit horn performance.

Originally from Wingate, NC, a small town outside of Charlotte, NC. Centria studied music education at Wingate University and studied horn under Dr. Christopher Griffin. She performed with the Charlotte Civic Orchestra, Union Symphony and the Horn Society of the Carolinas.

Since moving to Baton Rouge, LA for her Master’s, Centria has performed with Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Jefferson Parish Arts Center, Opera Louisiane, Louisiana Sinfonetta, and the Monroe Symphony Orchestra.

Centria is a founding member of the Allumer Quartet, a local horn quartet in Baton Rouge. Allumer Quartet’s mission is to add new, and diverse music, to the horn quartet repertoire. Centria enjoys freelancing and teaching privately in the Baton Rouge Area. When not teaching, or performing, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, yoga, and meditation.
